Group Shot John Will Seminar 2008

GroundControl is a progressive BJJ/MMA organisation with training centres in Auckland and Hamilton.

The focus of GC is on providing a training environment where people from all walks of life can explore thier personal development. The context for this personal development is the highly realistic techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. We believe this training is for everybody and structure our classes to appeal to all levels and all physical ability.

GroundControl started life out as so many good things do - a few individuals passionate about what they were doing. In this case it was Michael Fooks and a few of his Aikido students (including Andrew Craven) experimenting with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Mike's garage. Soon they were hooked and when Mike was introduced to world renowned coach John Will there was no looking back. As Mike started hosting John for Auckland seminars and following his seminar circuit in the upper north island he was introduced to Phil Beale, Errol Watson and Travis Browne. There was an instant meeting of minds and soon GroundControl Hamilton was born.

Now GC retains that culture of camaraderie that was started in the garage years ago, combined with a world class approach to training, taken from John Will's methodology and Mike's professional knowledge of learning and training paradigms.

We cater to high level competitors and combat athletes as well as those just wanting to get fit, gain a bit more confidence or just get involved in the fastest growing martial arts on the planet today.

Getting started is as easy as contacting us now.. Look forward to seeing you on the mats.
